Do the right thing!
As you probably know by now, there are three main aspects to the services offered by Indee.tv.
1.) Posting and Viewing of films
2.) Social and Professional networking built around the credits people receive on each film
3.) Feedback from the community on films that have been posted
The guidelines below address each of these aspects separately.
Guidelines around Posting and Viewing of films:
What content belongs on Indee.tv?
This is a tough one to put in words. Indee.tv is looking to be a website focused on independent film. The definition of what constitutes an independent film is hard to verbalize. Now that is a good thing since we would not want to create barriers to entry. We would not want to impose restrictions on length or content or insist that the film has to be scripted. We would rather have the audience decide what legitimately constitutes an independent film and what does not. To that end your submissions to Indee.tv will be subject to review from the audience and any content that is flagged by the audience as content more appropriate for a more general video sharing service (ex: Youtube.com) will be subject to removal.
It is probably easier to define what should not be on Indee.tv rather than what should be on Indee. tv so lets just start with that.
Examples of content that belong elsewhere:
1.) Videos of your pets playing at home.
2.) Videos of someone wiping out painfully on a skateboard.
3.) You doing the Numa Numa.
4.) SNL skits that you are not part of and do not hold the copyright to.
5.) Commercials plugging your revolutionary hair removal system.
Some more explicit guidelines:
1.) Indee.tv is not for pornography or for sexually explicit content. Lets just say that reproductive organs are off limits and so are Skinemax B movies. If this describes your video, even if it's a video of yourself, don't post it on Indee.tv. Also, be advised that we work closely with law enforcement and we report child exploitation.
2.) Recordings of ACTUAL graphic or gratuitous violence are not allowed. If your video just has actors engaging in fake violence it's probably OK.
3.) Indee.tv is not a shock site, Please don't post gross-out videos of accidents, dead bodies or similar things intended to shock or disgust.
4.) Respect copyright. Only upload videos that you made or that you are authorized to use. This means don't upload videos you didn't make, or use content in your videos that someone else owns the copyright to, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted programs, or videos made by other users, without necessary authorizations. FYI - Movies you make that use music that you do not have rights to are in violation of music owner's copyrights and are not kosher.
5.) We encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view. But we don't permit hate speech (speech which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, and sexual orientation/gender identity).
6.) Things like predatory behavior, stalking, threats, harassment, intimidation, invading privacy, revealing other people.s personal information, and inciting others to commit violent acts or to violate the Terms of Use are taken very seriously. Anyone caught doing these things may be permanently banned from Indee.tv.
7.) Everyone hates spam. Don.t create misleading descriptions, tags, titles or thumbnails in order to increase views. It's not okay to post large amounts of untargeted, unwanted or repetitive content, including comments and private messages.
6.) Every user has the option of keeping their videos private and only sharing it with people they choose. We ask that you respect peoples privacy and not devote your considerable hacker skills to finding a way around.
Guidelines around crediting of films:
The crediting of films on Indee.tv is a valuable part of the overall service offered and we hope you give it the consideration it needs in order to be useful to the community. Below are some guidelines we hope you find useful and follow.
1.) Try and make the assigning of credits a team effort just like the creation of the film. Please do not leave out people who deserve credit.
2.) Be honest when assigning credits. I know we all wonder what "Executive Producers" do and that the definition of each role on a film making team might be vague but please avoid crediting people who have not really contributed. E.g; The guy who loaned you a camera so could make a film does not really deserve credit as a cinematographer.
In general, please keep in mind that other filmmakers like yourself will be using Indee.tv to identify and recruit talent that they would like to work with. Assigning people credit that they do not deserve will only end up hurting the community and eventually end up hurting you.
Guidelines around feedback on films:
You will have the opportunity to provide feedback on films you watch on Indee.tv. Use your power and try not to abuse it. Examples of abuse would be:
1.) Trading votes or offering incentives in return for positive feedback
2.) Attempting to figure out our sophisticated voting algorithm and then manipulating it so it ceases to function in the common interest.
A reminder.
Please take these rules seriously and take them to heart. Lets try and shoot for upholding the spirit and not the letter of the guidelines.
We enforce these guidelines. Someone, somewhere will be watching videos that are posted to make sure they do not violate the guidelines.
You may not like everything you see. Some of the content here may offend you.if you find that it violates our Terms of Service, then please use the "Feedback" to report it for review by Indee.tv staff, please include the URL for the content. If it doesn't violate the Terms, then consider just clicking on something else there are several videos we know you'll love.
Thanks
The Indee Team
